Chapin Library ages 10-14

Arielle Fatuova, Education Coordinator from the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, will be here the second Thursday of each month to share information about the current art installations at the Art Museum. Ms. Arielle will also inspire and guide us as we create our own works of art. This art program is open to students, ages 10-14. Pre-registration is required. CCU students perform with Carolina Master Chorale

Six CCU students recently performed four concerts with the Carolina Master Chorale, the premiere symphonic chorus in the region, Feb. 10-12. The student performers were winners of the Carolina Master Chorale/Coastal Carolina University Student Vocal Competition, held in November 2017. Student performers included seniors Whitney Daniels, a vocal performance major; Francesca Brown, Brian Bruno, Paige Mason, and Corey Ryan, all BFA musical theater majors; and junior Sarah Parker, a BFA musical theater major. Waterway Art Association, Calabash

WAA is a local group of artists located in Calabash, North Carolina. Our membership includes all skill levels from beginner to professional, with media including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, pen and ink and more. We have Professional Instructor one day workshops, offered monthly January to May and September to November. In addition, the second and third Wednesdays WAA offers casual, informative, demonstrations presented by members. The fourth Wednesday we have a live model sketching session. More on the Art Museum’s fabric-rich exhibitions

To complement the Art Museum’s fabric-rich exhibitions – Gee’s Bend: From Quilts to Prints and  Stitchin’ and Pullin’: Painted Illustrations by Cozbi Cabrera  – the Art Museum is proud to present 12 works from our rich Permanent Collections, pieces that  reference and explore fabric and other forms of fiber in a variety of ways. Included in The Fabric of Our Collection is Burgess, The Legacy, a photo-collage quilt by Carolynne Miller and three works by Jonathan Green. This exhibition  is open through April 23, 2017.
